Maryland Board of Education Makes it Official, Appointing Dr. Carey Wright as Permanent Superintendent of Schools

The Maryland State Board of Education announced yesterday the formal appointment of Dr. Carey Wright as the new Maryland Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Wright came home to Maryland to retire and spend time with her family, but she did not hesitate to respond to the call for her service to our state.

Joshua Michael, the board member who chaired the search committee, said that 26 people completed an application for the job, but “the board coalesced strongly” around Wright. The Washington Post
