Maryland’s reading proficiency is nowhere near its potential, and students in our school systems are underperforming. To close this gap, state leaders must provide the necessary resources, support, and accountability to drive real change. We must fix what is broken, abandon what is not working, build on the foundation we’ve established, and push even harder to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.
